Paul Summerlin, along with his oil and gas experience, brings more than 35 years of engineering, construction and project management to the Black Dutch Team. Throughout his career, Paul has specialized in concrete, land surveying, strength of materials and the construction and management of various projects. Early in his career, Paul worked for Gifford Hill and Dr. Jim Houston of Texas A&M University to install the first in-house concrete testing lab for Gifford Hill (now owned by Hanson Concrete). He then served as a Field Engineer for Robert E. McKee Construction Company in Dallas.
Having the desire for entrepreneurship, Paul founded, owned, and operated A&M Concrete in Dallas. In that capacity, he led all phases of the firm’s operations, development, growth and management, until a successful exit after nearly 20 years. While continuing to operate his own company during the slowed business times, Paul had the opportunity to join R. L. Betts and Associates Civil and Consulting Engineers as a Land Surveying Field Engineer. Upon his exit from Betts, and later his own company, Paul founded, owned, and operated the Summerlin Family oil and gas interests with operated, outside operated, and mineral properties throughout North East and West Texas.
Along with his Alma Maters, Highland Park High School and Texas A&M University, Paul is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, The American Society of Geophysical Contractors, and the Society of Independent Petroleum Earth Scientists.
